Alykes is the seaside part of the village of Katastari which is located on the northwestern part of the island, just 18 kilometers from the capital, Zante town. The name Alykes comes from the Greek name of the salt pans that were near the sea.
Apart from the touristic part of Alykes, you will find a typical agricultural Zakynthian village with its beautiful private gardens, a primary school and olive groves just 15 minutes on foot.
This area is ideal for many activities such as walking, hiking and biking. Zakynthian hospitality is everywhere so do not be surprised if you are invited by a village inhabitant to try fruits from his garden or even have a Greek coffee with him.
Alykes is the perfect starting point for exploring the rest of the beautiful island of Zakynthos as it is a 20-minute drive to town and half an hour to the north where you will find the famous Blue Caves.
